Main responsibilities;
The Woreda Education Program Officer shall:
- Project Plan and Coordination:
- Coordinate project activities at the Woreda level and engage in Zonal EIE Cluster meetings.
- Develop a detailed Project Implementation Plan and translate it into action.
- Provide technical and management support for the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of education and child protection in emergency programs.
- Technical Support:
- Provide technical support to program staff, including AEP facilitators, school principals, teachers, and partners such as Zonal and Woreda Education, and the Women and Children Affairs Office.
- Ensure efforts are aligned with government Education Plans and Priorities, National and Regional Education Policies, EIE Minimum Standards, AEP curriculum standards, and child protection minimum standards.
- Coordination:
- Support the Woreda education office-led coordination mechanism for effective implementation of education emergency interventions.
- Participate in Woreda-level education and child protection emergency response meetings and share minutes with the Zonal Program Coordinator.
- Facilitate the mainstreaming of child education in other coordination mechanisms and sectors through information exchange and joint mapping.
- Training and Capacity Building
- Organize and facilitate training for WEO staff, teachers, facilitators, School PTA, and Principles on Education and Child Protections thematic.Â
- Conducts Capacity gaps  and Provides ongoing Coaching and Support including Virtual training and Seld development facilitations for the Field StaffÂ
- Flow up implementations and outcomes of training at Schools and Learning Sites
- Project monitoring, Evaluations, and reportingÂ
- School Visits and Feedback:
- Visit targeted schools, learning sites, AEP classes, and life skill classes using standard checklists.
- Provide continuous feedback for improvements.
- Situational Updates:
- Collect and provide situational updates on education in emergency issues, response, and plans in coordination with WEO.
- Collect, analyze, and prepare reports against Woreda-level education and child protection targets, including gender-based violence response targets.
- Data Collection and Reporting:
- Develop and distribute data collection tools and templates specific to the projects.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting requirements from Woreda and Kebeles/learning sites are met, following established formats.
- Systematically coordinate appropriate responses on education and child protection in emergency operational response plans with other relevant sectors, such as health, nutrition, and WASH.
- Information Management:
- Collect, analyze, and report on education and child protection in emergencies and response interventions.
- Monitor the coverage and complementarity of Kebele/learning site-level education and child protection activities.
- Develop Human interest History and Cases for  Communications and AdvocacyÂ
- Reporting:
- Regularly provide quality reports, including weekly situational reports, biweekly and monthly reports, and 5Ws and 4Ws.
- Donor Field Visits:
- Facilitate and support Government & donor field visits to emergency response sites in target Woreda and Kebeles.
- Partnership and AdvocacyÂ
Develop and Create Strong Partnerships with local government offices, Local NGOs, and the community to Advocate for children’s right to Education and Protection services and pave the way for resource mobilization.
Organize program achievements, best practices, and lessons for sharing communications and Advocacy
Create and maintain good relationships with both internal and external Project Stakeholders
About You
A/ EDUCATION/TRAINING
- BA/MA Degree in  Education, Educational Administration, EDPM , educational Psychology and related field of studiesÂ
B/ EXPERIENCE
- 5 years of working in education and Child protection interventions and at least  3 years in a national or international organization working environmentÂ
- Knowledge and experience in Education in emergency projects and child protection in both emergency and development Contexts.
C/ TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Experience in undertaking Educational and Child protection projects in an emergency context and enhancing the capacity if partners at the local level.
- Using Project cycle management and Project management tools and techniquesÂ
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, both beneficiaries and partners.
- Fluency in written and spoken English. And Afan Oromo
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Flexible, with the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet in com skillÂ
