Brand Identity Designer

About the Job

The brand identity designer is expected to develop a cohesive and compelling brand identity for our upcoming national level brands. The brand identity should effectively communicate the core values, mission, and vision of the brands, ensuring they resonate with the target audience and differentiate themselves in the competitive payment infrastructure market. These national level products are expected to be quickly adopted by the Ethiopian customers and they are planned to be expanded to other African nations based on the vision put in place by Ethswitch. 

The designer should provide their expertise in branding, strategic thinking, and holistic approach to establish a brand’s identity, ensuring it effectively communicates with its audience and stands out in the local and international marketplace.

The following deliverables are expected from the brand identity designer:

  • Logo Design: A primary logo and variations for different uses and formats, ensuring adaptability across various media.
  • Visual Identity System: A cohesive set of design elements, including color palettes, typography, and graphic elements.
  • Brand Guidelines Document: A detailed guide that includes rules and recommendations for maintaining brand consistency across all platforms.
  • Marketing Collateral: Design templates for key marketing materials, including business cards, letterheads, social media graphics, and presentation slides.
  • Final Presentation: A presentation to stakeholders summarizing the brand identity and its application, including rationale and design process insights.

About You

  • Minimum 5+ years proven experience in brand identity creation.
  • Proven experience turning brand strategy into visual identity.
  • Experience working with similar organizations in Ethiopia, or a strong understanding of the Ethiopian digital financial market.

Focus Group Discussion (FGD) Research Consultant

About the Job

The research consultant is expected to evaluate and refine selected brand names for three of the services and products provided by EthSwitch through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). These national level products are expected to be quickly adopted by the Ethiopian customers and they are planned to be expanded to other African nations based on the vision put in place by Ethswitch. 

The FGDs will test the shortlisted naming options for both products to assess their clarity of service, likability, uniqueness, trustworthiness, pronounceability and other critical factors among the systems end users and also financial institution representatives. Post finalization of the names testing research, the consultant will also be expected to test visual identity options that will be crafted based on the approved brand names.

Deliverables

The following deliverables are expected from the research consultant:

  • Discussion Guide: Structured guide for FGDs.
  • Recruitment Plan: Detailed plan for participant recruitment.
  • Space Prep: recommend, secure and prepare confortable space to conduct the FDG’s
  • FGD Report: Comprehensive analysis report with key findings, themes, and recommendations.
  • Final Report: Complete report with final recommendations on brand names and visual identities.

About You

The FGD consultant will possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years Proven experience in conducting research related to marketing specific to focus group discussions.
  • Experience working with similar organizations in Ethiopia, or a strong understanding of the Ethiopian digital financial market.

About the Job

The International Engagement Manager will lead EthSwitch’s global and regional partnerships, ensuring alignment with emerging trends in the payments industry. Reporting to the Strategy Department Director, this position is responsible for managing and expanding EthSwitch’s international reach, fostering collaborations across Africa and globally, and aligning the company’s international activities with its long-term strategic objectives. 

The manager involves coordinating with foreign national Switchs, payment infrastructure providers, regulatory bodies, and key international partners to foster cross-border payment solutions, ensuring interoperability and scalability, enhance EthSwitch’s global presence, and support its growth as a key player in the digital payments landscape.  

This position requires a strong understanding of international payment systems, digital finance, and regional regulatory environments, particularly in the context of Africa’s growing digital economy and global standards and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) initiatives.

About You

  • BA/MA/MBA in Economics, Management, Project Management or related fields of studies  
  • 8/6 years of relevant work experience out of which 3 years in senior officer positions.
  • Competence in MS Office, Communications, Negotiation and report writing.

Financial Market Research Consultant

About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Financial Market Research Consultant to conduct a comprehensive Consumer Behavior Survey for Enhancing Digital Finance Strategies in Ethiopia. The consultant will collaborate with EthSwitch, the National Switch in Ethiopia, to assess consumer behaviors, preferences, and challenges in utilizing digital financial services. The primary objective is to gain insights into consumer behavior regarding digital financial services, evaluate penetration and usage patterns, assess challenges and opportunities in the digital payment ecosystem, and provide actionable recommendations to enhance EthSwitch’s strategies.

Deliverables:

  1. Survey Questionnaire: Craft an insightful questionnaire aligning with research objectives to capture essential data points such as pricing, brand perception, and service awareness.
  2. Data Collection Strategy: Implement effective data collection methods, recommend appropriate survey distribution channels, and ensure the research process’s transparency and replicability.
  3. Data Analysis Report: Analyze collected data using statistical methods, and identify key trends, patterns, and insights related to pricing, brand perception, and awareness. Conduct comparative analysis across different cities and demographic segments.
  4. Comprehensive Report: Prepare a detailed report outlining the potential implications of the findings. Provide actionable insights that can benefit EthSwitch and other ecosystem players, guiding them toward strategic improvements and opportunities.
  5. Presentation of Findings: Present survey findings and recommendations to EthSwitch’s management team and stakeholders, facilitating discussions and clarifications based on research insights.

About You

  • Minimum 8+ years of proven experience in designing and conducting consumer behavior 
  • surveys in the financial or similar sector. 
  • ∙Expertise in data analysis, statistical tools, and interpreting research insights. 
  • ∙Strong communication skills to effectively present findings and recommendations. 
  • ∙Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and teams. 
  • ∙Understanding of the Ethiopian financial market ecosystem is preferred.
