About Global Communities:  Global Communities is an international non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing health, ending hunger, overcoming hardship, and advance women and girls around the world. The organization secured a funding from US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Ethiopia for its project Resilience in Pastoralist Areas – South (RIPA-South) that will improve resilience to enhance food security and inclusive economic growth for lowland pastoral communities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe IT Officer provides technical support for the administrative and program staff in all that pertains to internet/intranet and communication technology devices used in the office. S/he identifies and resolves technical problems, analyzes systems’ requirements, and assist in defining organization’s scope, requirements, and deliverables. The IT Officer is based in Addis Ababa and reports directly to Director of Finance and Operations.The main duties are:
Implement and administer technologies and processes that ensures the reliability, efficiency, and availability of the production environment.Maximize system utilization. Ensure sufficient capacity.Administer system backups. Ensure data availability and recoverability.Conduct performance reviews on platforms and implement tuning changes.Administer and oversee the operating systems, database, network software and interfaces.Initiate and maintain systems, network and storage management.Analyze network and recommend upgrades/changes;Conduct a root cause analysis of the system issues in order to look for permanent solution to ensure that the problem does not arise again.Assess organization’s current and future network needs.Run diagnostic test to ensure systems are operating efficiently.Perform troubleshooting, repairs and data restoration.Ensure the consistent quality of services is provided to customersReceive and responds to support requests. Document incidents, interaction, and solution within Service Desk application. Communicate status of problems to customers.Monitor and manage group and individual queues and distribute Service Desk tickets.Troubleshoot any issue that arises in the computer systems and brought up by the staff.Provide technical support to the users at all times.Following IT operational procedures as outline in Global Communities Field IT Operations Guide.Installs and maintains client hardware, software, and peripherals. Maintains hardware and software inventory. Collaborates with Headquarters IT Services to ensure efficient operation of computing environment. Review and recommend appropriate maintenance strategies to ensure uninterrupted systems usage.Provide program start-up through close-out IT relevant assistance for new/current programs, if/as required by the Supervisor.Manages and monitors technology vendors and consultants to ensure contracted quality of services is being provided.Provides support/guidance on the maintenance, repair, and procurement of hardware and software devices for the office.Provides staff with basic training on the use of any new software or technology device adopted by the office.Conducts IT orientation to newly hired program staff.Provides general support for ICT4D related program and project activities, as required. Travel to Zonal offices to provide on-site support project staff membersThe duties listed above are not inclusive of all duties on the projects. Global Communities reserves the right to change and update the position descriptions at any time.Department: Program Support Â

Qualifications
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Information technology or related degree and three years relevant working experience or a diploma in Information Technology/related course and five years relevant working experience.At least three years’ hands-on experience administrating Microsoft Active Directory domain infrastructure, networking, backup and server management.Certification from a recognized ICT training institute.Experience working with International NGO is a plus.Fluent in English.CompetenciesGood knowledge of servers, emerging technological devices (tablet and android applications)Commitment to respond promptly to the IT needs of the officeProven experience in networking, active directory, computer hardware and softwareExperience working with ticket management systemsThe closing date for this application is 26th November 2023.
