Ireland has enjoyed bilateral relations with Ethiopia since 1994, when its Embassy in Addis Ababa was first opened. Ireland’s engagement in Ethiopia is guided by the Government of Ireland’s general foreign policy which seeks to promote a more secure, just, fair and sustainable world.

Irish Aid, Ireland’s programme for international development, envisages a world where people are empowered to overcome poverty and hunger, and fully realize their rights and potential. Irish Aid in Ethiopia therefore aims to benefit the poorest and most vulnerable sections of society.

Job Position – Finance Manager

Required Qualification and Experience.

Education: Degree in Accounting or related fields from a recognized university;
The candidate must have a recognized professional accounting qualification e.g. ACCA or CIMA. Applicants who are mid-way through an ACCA or CIMA qualification who have particularly strong relevant experience and skills may be considered but the candidate must commit to successfully completing the ACCA or CIMA qualification within 2 years of commencing employment
Experience in the use of financial management accounting packages.
The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years experience in a financial management and control role, with at least 3 years at a senior level;
The candidate must have proficiency in the Microsoft suite applications; advanced financial skills with Microsoft Excel are essential.
The candidate must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including managing and interpreting. and manipulating large data sets;
The candidate must have a proven ability to work under pressure and think laterally in dealing with a wide range of financial issues;
The candidate must have the ability to manage staff and deliver results both independently and as part of a multicultural team;
The candidate must have strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills with staff and partners;
The candidate must have high motivation with a proven s ability to work with minimal supervision and a high standard of personal integrity;
The candidate must have excellent communication and a high standard in English and Amharic, both spoken and written
Desirable Skills and Experience

Candidate with a strong background and knowledge of government regulation and laws, public sector accounting and financial procedures and regulations surrounding international funding is desirable
Contract Duration: The successful candidates will be hired on a fixed term for a three-year contract with a probation period of 60 working days.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, with standard office hours from 8 am-5 pm, with total working hours not exceeding 48 hours per week as per local labor law.

Annual Leave Entitlement: Annual leave entitlement is 20 working days per annum

Gross Salary: Entry point of scale for Grade ONE (€29.160.24 per annum) paid in local currency. Salaries are paid directly to a bank account; therefore, the successful candidate must have a bank account. Candidates must have a permanent, legal right to reside and work in Ethiopia and will be subject to employment and taxation law.
