The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical, Research studies, Vaccine, and Traditional Medicine research institute that works in developing tools for research studies, Vaccine, prevention, control, and treatment of neglected tropical diseases and other diseases of public health importance through applied, basic biomedical research, research studies, and training
Role and Responsibility:
· Design and develop bioanalytical assays in support of early Biological (diagnostics and related products) programs.
· Responsible to contribute with limited supervision to all aspects of assay development, technology transfer, and/or troubleshooting.
· Conduct state-of-the art technologies and is expected to champion evaluation of new technologies and optimize processes.
· Providing expert technical representation on multidisciplinary teams.
· Contribute to experimental design, data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving to improve methods or procedures.
· Implement Good Laboratory Practices and set up an operational Quality Management System.
· Monitor the IP and competitive landscape for recent developments.
· Communicate regularly with the division head to relay project progress, experiment results, and data analysis; openly and thoughtfully discuss challenges.
· Capable of adjusting to a dynamic working environment and changing priorities, while ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.
· Lead, form and coordinate the research and development team to ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner
Job Requirements
Qualification:
· PhD Dgree in Microbial Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Medical Microbiology, Pharmaceutical microbiology or Immunology.
Experience:
· After PhD Degree 0 year and 4 (four) years of experience in Biological (diagnostics and related products) research and development or related areas.
· In vaccine development or related areas 5 (five) publication points.
Skills and Abilities:
- Investigative Skills: Identifying problems, assessing risks, defining expected / potential results, inspecting specimens, cataloging information
- Research / Quantitative Skills: Defining problems, designing experiments, utilizing laboratory equipment, using computers for computation / simulation, conducting studies, recording observations, interpreting results, utilizing statistical tests to predict outcomes, and preparing statistical reports.
- Analytical Skills: Examining components of problems / ideas, reasoning logically, categorizing data, making projections from data, organizing ideas / information, and evaluating the effects of phenomena.
- Communication Skills: Writing research proposals, contributing to teams, summarizing research findings, explaining complex ideas for technical and nontechnical audiences, designing charts, graphs and other visual aids, reporting results and conclusions orally and in writing, and presenting alternative explanations.

Researcher – Project manager
Main duties and responsibilities;
· Liaise and coordinate with AHRI and LSHTM in the design of
o training materials for skin diseases screening, detection and diagnosis
o CRF for clinical data collection
· Plan, organize and train filed survey team data collection tools and training materials
· Conduct clinical assessment of individuals identified by the survey team as affected by skin diseases
· Conduct planed quality checking on weekly bases when the data collection is on progress
· Communicate with the field coordinator, data team at AHRI and SHARP coordinator for daily routines
· Contribute to analysis and write up of interim and/or final report(s) or manuscript
· Participant in conference and present results as might be required
· Willing to be available to supportive the health centre team when required
· Coordinate with the PhD students in the implementation of the research activities
· Ensure effective communication between the multi-disciplinary SHARP research team
· Contribute to SHARP other thematic areas in achieving project milestone as assigned by senior staffs
· Coordinate other related duties as assigned by the project

MD with MPH or MPH with MSc in Tropical Dermatology
Experiences:
· Minimum of 2 years experiences in clinical practice
· Have experiences in training materials and TOR development
· is advantageous having experience
o in survey work with evidence of achievement
o in research with publication in reputable journals
· Good communication and organization skills
· Demonstrable skill in running ToT or teaching
Desired Competencies
· Knowledge of different data management software like REDCAP
· Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods
